Coconut growers on the coast of Southern India use every part of the coconut. Virtually nothing goes to waste. Coir door mats are made from the husk of the coconut. The husks are first seasoned in the lagoons off the coast, then each husk is beaten by hand to extract the fibre. This fibre is woven into your door mat on small looms.
